Know Thyself’ reminds students to deeply think about their values and what impact they want to have in their community. A student-centric liberal arts college, Hamilton encourages students to explore their passion, expand their perspectives, express themselves and expect opportunities preparing them for a meaningful and purposeful life as a good citizen. Hamilton offers an open curriculum.

 

Admissions Process: Hamilton offers Early Decision 1 and 2 and Regular Decision.

40% of their applicants come from ED. Hamilton is test-optional. Interviews are optional. There is also an optional supplement on the Hamilton application. The school is need-blind for 1st year freshmen applicants but meets 100% of the need for domestic freshmen. No merit-aid offered.

 

Majors: Hamilton offers an open curriculum and there are no specific required courses that students need to take. 20% of the courses are writing intensive. ⅓ of their time is spent in 3 writing courses and the  ⅔ of their time they can pursue what they want. Most students take double majors or take minors. Students come in Undeclared into Hamilton. No one is locked into a minor. Students do 2 or more internships before they graduate.

 

Students– Hamilton students are smart, present, happy, peppy, outdoorsy and down-to-earth. They are also strong writers. Volunteering and Community service is a big part of the student experience. 30% of the students are in Greek life. There are no Greek houses on campus. Most students at Hamilton are from mid-Atlantic and New England, primarily New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, California and Texas
