Hobart and William Smith Colleges prepare students to lead lives of consequence. As part of a consortium of 6 liberal arts colleges in New York, HWS has a picturesque campus located near NY Finger Lakes has close relationships with Colgate University, Hamilton, Skidmore, St. Lawrence and Union College. As a nurturing small school for students that encourages exploration, HWS is a great school for any student who may be undecided on their future pathway.

 

Hobart was founded as a men’s college and William Smith for women. Now they share the same campus, faculty as well as curriculum.

 

Admissions Process: Grades, rigor, interests, skills , talents and community service are all considered in the process. The school offers generous need and merit based aid and encourages students to visit or/ and engage with them. The school offers Early Decision, and is test-optional.

 

Majors: 70+ Academic programs are offered with plenty of opportunities for undergraduate research. Women’s Studies, Queer Studies, Architectural Studies, Biology, Geoscience, Environmental Studies, Economics, Media and Society, English are strong programs. Pathways Program is a small career-centered curriculum that guarantees internships with funding. Students- HWS students are warm, friendly, curious and excited to try new things. 43% of the HWS student body are New Yorkers and 8 percent are international. The multicultural population is 22% and 61% are out of state. Male identifying students are 45%, females 52% and 3% another gender.
