SUNY Albany – R1 Research Excellence and strong programs in Public Policy and Business

SUNY Albany (one of the 64 SUNY campuses) is a mid-size, R1 research university, centrally located in NY with 13K undergraduates, educating global scholar citizens, offering core programs on Artificial Intelligence and large number of resources and generous merit-aid.
Admissions Process: Albany requires GPA, letters of recommendation and considers extracurriculars, talent, ability, community work, test scores and interview. SUNY offers a free application week during Fall of the application year where students can apply to a few SUNYs of their choice without a fee. New York State’s Excelsior Scholarship program, gives in-state residents with an annual household income under $125,000, free tuition.
Majors: SUNY Albany offers 50+ undergraduate majors and 150+ graduate programs. Albany has 9 colleges offering pre-professional options for health/ medicine, law and education.The Honors College is a small liberal arts college created in the context of a large university, with seminars being the backbone of the Honors College. Academics are challenging and the coursework demanding. Public Policy, Criminal Justice, Social welfare and Business Administration programs are particularly strong. Psychology, Nursing and Computer Science are popular. The College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security, and Cybersecurity is one of a kind.
Students– 60% of the student population are students of color. There are 250+ student clubs and 19 NCAA Division 1 athletic teams. The students are friendly and welcoming.
