Syracuse University is a gorgeous, medium size university with big-time resources located on a hill overlooking the city of Syracuse. With an undergraduate population of 15K and 22K total student strength, Syracuse is a R1 Research institution with big time athletics.

 

Admissions Process: Syracuse offers Early Decision I and II and Regular Decision. The University is test-optional for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 with 40% students submitting test-scores. Applications are reviewed holistically. As of 2024, Syracuse has a 45% acceptance rate with ⅓ rd of the freshman class coming in through Early Decision, if admitted to the 2nd choice major, ED is no longer binding. FAFSA and CSS are required for financial aid. Virtual interviews are offered. Demonstrated interest is very important at Syracuse University.

 

 Majors: Amongst Syracuse 10 schools, College of Arts and Sciences, Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and Newhouse School of Public Communications have the Undecided option for students who do not know their major just yet. Syracuse offers 200 majors and 100 minors including dual and accelerated programs. Dual enrollment is common. The Renee Crown University Honors Program is by invitation. Students can also apply for consideration as well or during their freshman year. The School of Communication is well-renowned.

 

Students– Over 30% students are from NY state and 19% international. Students are contributing members of their community. They are friendly, outgoing, involved, sporty, active, happy, and social  with lots of school spirit. There is Greek life on campus. Football games in the JMA Dome are frenzied and provide a lot of excitement for the fans.

 

New Development-Syracuse is the biggest higher education partner with Micron, planning a $100 billion dollar investment in Central New York, and plans to open 20K new jobs. Growth is anticipated in Syracuse’s College of Engineering and Computer Science.
